Ms. O's Message
Good afternoon Quetzal Families!
I love October, as it is usually the beginning of fall, my favorite season! It is also the National Emotional Wellness Month. Emotional wellness is very important for all of us! I want to invite you and your families to pause and find some ways to take care of yourselves, strengthen relationships, and practice kindness and gratitude.
Here are some ways you can maintain and improve your emotional health:
Be aware of your emotions and reactions. Start noticing what makes you happy, sad, or angry.
Express your feelings in appropriate ways. Let people close to you know what is bothering you. Keeping anger and sadness inside causes stress.
Think before you act. Give yourself some time to think and process before you say something you can’t take back.
Manage stress: breathing, meditation, and exercise are great ways to reduce stress.
Strive for balance: include fun, games, rest, and stress free activities in your day.
Take care of your physical health: go out on hikes, walks, and/or ride a bike.
Take some time to connect with others even if it is via Zoom.
Please remember the importance of washing your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, using hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol when hand washing is not an available option, and sneezing and coughing into your elbow if a tissue is not available. We must all continue to maintain physical distance, wear face coverings, and move as many activities outdoors as possible.
November 3rd approaches, and I want to encourage you to exercise your right to vote. Making informed decisions on your ballot has a direct impact on funding and policies that directly affect adults and children’s lives.
Have a fantastic week!
Ms. Olaciregui
Principal

Together We Are a Better MVWSD: Special edition: ELECTION!
Mountain View Whisman School District embraces its role in establishing its commitment to equity in our district. As part of our "Together We Are a Better MVWSD" series, here is a special edition on the Nov. 3 election.
Participating in elections is one of the key freedoms of American life. Many people in countries around the world do not have the same freedom, nor did many Americans in centuries past. No matter what you believe or whom you support, it is important to exercise your rights. We celebrate the upcoming election cycle by publishing materials for teachers and parents that promote civic engagement amongst students and give resources to parents about how to secure their participation in this year's election. Both the links and QR codes will take you directly to the recommended resources.
