Quetzal News
March 21, 2024
From Ms. O's Desk
Dear Quetzal Families,
I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who attended our open house event. It was truly wonderful to see so many parents, guardians, and community members come together to celebrate our school and its accomplishments this year.
I am constantly inspired by the dedication and hard work of our staff, and it was wonderful to see them shine during open house. Our school is a special place, where biliteracy, diversity, and caring are not just values we strive for, but a way of life.
As we head into the final months of the school year, I invite you all to continue modeling the values that make our community so special. Let us continue to foster an environment of hard work, grit, perseverance, and acceptance of all our differences.
Thank you again for your support and partnership. I am honored to be a part of this amazing community and look forward to the exciting times ahead.
Additionally, as part of our ongoing commitment to educating students to be safe, we will be holding a safety routes assembly for our second, third, and fifth graders on Tuesday. This assembly will focus on teaching students how to safely navigate their routes to and from school. We believe it is crucial to empower our students with the knowledge and skills to prioritize their safety, and we are excited to offer this program to our students. Please note that other grade levels will participate in this assembly next school year.
Please remember that there is no school for students on Monday, as we have a Teacher Service Day. Have an amazing weekend! With warm regards.
Claudia Olaciregui, Principal
Science Fair
The Mistral Science Fair is back! This is a fun community event where students (grades K-5) create their own science projects and share their results with their friends, parents, and volunteer scientists.
Students can create an individual project, or they can form a team of 2-4 students. We can also help your student find a team. To learn more, please visit our website or join our optional Zoom info session for first time parent participants on Tuesday, March 5 at 7 pm.
More information and paper registration forms will be sent home in backpacks on Friday, March 1. Please register your student by completing the paper form (and returning to their teacher) or this online form by Thursday, March 7.
